Cover and video production for the release "Molly" by PRESI 63. Built in the studio against a cyclorama with a pale blue Mercedes coupé as the only prop: the artist in white on the floor in front of it, the title set across the frame. Bringing a car into a studio is a lot of work but it buys total control over light and reflections — which is what you need if the paintwork and the clothing are to hold the same brightness.
A title running across the frame is a decision taken before the exposure. Type needs an area without detail, and that area comes from the distance between figure and car — not from retouching afterwards.
Getting cover and video out of one setup does not only save time. It makes the release fit together: same color, same prop, same room — what appears as a tile on a streaming service is then the same picture as the video.
The rest is surface against surface. White clothing in front of pale blue paint in front of a gray cyclorama is an exercise in small differences of brightness; pull them too far apart and you get three planes with nothing to do with each other.
