Web design & online shops

Websites with scroll films and online shops on Shopify – web design from Frankfurt

I build websites people remember and online shops that sell: designed for your brand, built on technology of their own, with photography and film by the same person.

Case study · Nexentrium

A website you scroll like a film

Nexentrium is my own software brand, and its home page is a scroll film: at night the camera flies towards a tower, rides a glass lift down the facade, runs through a hall below ground and stops at reception, and at the end the credits roll like in the cinema. The mouse wheel scrubs the camera moves forwards and backwards. I build a website like this for you, too.

  • The wheel is the film reel

Every camera move was generated for this site, the still with Seedream, the motion with Seedance, and encoded with a keyframe every eight frames. So every jump of the wheel lands at once.

  • One visit to the tower

Every section is a floor: roof, floor plan, showrooms, hall, roof at midnight, office, lobby and reception. A tower at the edge shows where you are.

  • On a slow line, too

On a phone and on a slow connection lighter versions play, and anyone saving data switches the videos off. No text waits for the film.

  • German and English, without gaps

If a sentence is missing its translation, the type check already fails. So no half-translated page goes online.

Floor by floor

What happens in each part

Each excerpt is a piece of the same ride, scrolled down once and back up again.

  1. nexentriumtech.com
    nexentriumtech.com — The descent

    01 · Roof

    The descent

From the night sky down towards the tower. The headline steps back the lower the camera sinks. On a slow line the page waits behind the logo until the first frame of the ride is there, thirty seconds at most and always skippable.

  2. nexentriumtech.com
    nexentriumtech.com — The tower as a plan

    02 · Floor plan

    The tower as a plan

From above it is a tower, from inside a plan: the products stand as floors of one building, so it is clear how they belong together before the single cards arrive.

  3. nexentriumtech.com
    nexentriumtech.com — Every floor a room

    03 · Showrooms

    Every floor a room

Behind the heading the camera rides down the facade floor by floor. Every product has its room, with the city twinkling in its windows, and on the screen inside runs its own website, recorded frame by frame from the live site.

  4. nexentriumtech.com
nexentriumtech.com — Down in the glass lift

    04 · Lift

    Down in the glass lift

Down the outside of the tower in the glass lift, past the floors and on below street level, until the hall opens out.

  5. nexentriumtech.com
nexentriumtech.com — What holds it all up

    05 · Hall · B1

    What holds it all up

Down below, where nobody looks: the camera runs through the hall into the light, and there stand the four capabilities every product is built on.

  6. nexentriumtech.com
    nexentriumtech.com — The city connects

    06 · Roof · midnight

    The city connects

On the roof at midnight the camera holds still, and in time-lapse lines of light run out from the tower until the city to the horizon is one network. Here the scroll is the city connecting.

  7. nexentriumtech.com
    nexentriumtech.com — A light still on upstairs

    07 · Office

    A light still on upstairs

My portrait in depth: a depth map is estimated from the photo, and every pixel moves with its depth while the camera circles once. So the face turns a little against the dark.

  8. nexentriumtech.com
    nexentriumtech.com — The goodbye

    08 · Lobby · reception

    The goodbye

The frequent questions in the lobby, then the camera climbs off the roof until the city is one point of light, and dives back through the door. Reception says whether somebody is there right now, by the visitor’s clock.

  9. nexentriumtech.com
nexentriumtech.com — The end, like in the cinema

    09 · Credits

The end, like in the cinema

After reception the picture closes to widescreen. The camera pulls back out of the lobby, climbs the tower and lands on the picture the film began with. The credits roll over it at the pace of the wheel: the products as the cast, each with its floor, then the title card. The sound fades as they go.

Every view in the products’ rooms has its own address. These links open the page right there.

Your own shop

A shop that looks like your brand and sells.

Many shops look alike because they run on the same templates. I design your shop for your products and your customers: with clear paths to the cart, fast pages on the phone and copy that answers questions before anyone asks them.

Shopify runs in the background. You manage products, prices and orders in the Shopify admin, and customers pay in the secure Shopify checkout with PayPal, Klarna, credit card and more. I set everything up, connect whatever your business needs and hand over a shop that can sell from day one.

Shop, photos and film

A shop sells with pictures

Because I also photograph and film, product photographs, in-use pictures and the product film are made to fit the shop: in the right format for the product page, the home page and advertising, in one visual language. You need no second supplier and no second round of coordination.

Not only shops

And of course websites

Not every project needs a shop. I also design and develop websites without one, from a landing page to a home page with a scroll film like Nexentrium’s, with an inquiry or booking form, fast and made for the phone. This website is mine, too.

  • Artists & portfolios

Works, exhibitions, dates and a way to buy.

  • Restaurants & hotels

Menu, rooms, reservations, with my own photographs.

  • Companies

    Services, references, team and inquiries.

  • Landing pages

One page for a product, a launch or a campaign.

How it runs

  3. 03

    Design

Designs for phone and desktop, with your real products instead of placeholders.

  4. 04

    Build

Setting up Shopify, adding products, connecting payment, shipping and apps, test orders.

  5. 05

    Launch

The shop goes live, you get a walkthrough and, if you like, support afterwards.

Planning something like this?

Tell me what your website or shop should do and whether there is a site already. Then you get an offer with a fixed scope and price. The inquiry commits you to nothing.

The price depends on the scope and is in the offer before I start. How pricing works
