A congress film for the 2023 DIIR congress, the annual event of the German Institute for Internal Auditing. The hall is full, the screen carries the title, the walls are washed in warm orange. Making a film out of a professional congress means making attention visible: the evidence of a good program is the backs of heads in the foreground, not the slide at the front.
At a conference the view from behind, over the heads, is the most honest frame. It shows the occupancy of the hall and the screen at the same time, and it claims nothing that could not be counted.
The walls washed in orange are a given rather than a choice. Event lighting colors a room before the camera arrives, and the white balance only decides whether the shirts in the audience stay white or go along with it.
What a film like this has to do afterwards is advertise next year. So the weight lies on people in conversation, in the breaks and at the stands — the program is in the program booklet anyway.
