In the summer of 2023, the well-known magazine “The Frankfurter” held its exclusive Summer Lounge in the stylish Hotel Ruby in Frankfurt am Main, an event that quickly became a social highlight. In the elegant surroundings of the hotel, the Summer Lounge offered guests a combination of a relaxed atmosphere and an opportunity for top-class networking. The event attracted a diverse group of guests including local entrepreneurs, artists and public figures. “The Frankfurter” presented a carefully selected range of fine food and drinks during the event, with an emphasis on local and seasonal products. This Summer Lounge 2023 at the Hotel Ruby was not only a showcase for the magazine, but also a platform to promote and celebrate the culture and social network in Frankfurt am Main.
The film opens above the city: an aerial onto the hotel roof with its string lights and parasols, the towers of the banking district behind and the construction cranes between them. The house’s name stands on the roof in neon and names the place inside the frame.
A roof terrace in that position is the reason for flying at all. From the ground it cannot be shown, and the skyline behind it is what tells a Frankfurt summer event apart from any other.
After that the scale reverses. On the terrace itself the work is close: glasses, greetings, conversations at standing tables. An aftermovie needs both sizes — the frame that explains the place and the frames in which the guests find themselves.
