Two event trailers for Bucherer Fine Jewellery — one from the press day, one from the grand opening. The arrival belongs on screen: a champagne-colored Bentley Flying Spur in "Bentley meets Bucherer" livery stands outside the boutique on the shopping street, a doorman at the entrance, passers-by behind. A press day and a guest evening want different films: one shows the pieces and the rooms in peace, the other the night with an audience.
A car in front of a boutique is a decision about position. It must not block the door, the house’s mark has to stay legible beside the car brand’s, and the street does not belong to the client — passers-by and traffic carry on while the filming happens.
That is why the press day and the opening night are two films rather than two versions of one. By day the rooms, cases and pieces can be had in peace; in the evening there are guests, speeches and light made for people rather than for jewelry.
Jewelry itself is the hardest subject in both. It is small, it reflects, and it shows every source as a point of light — what takes hours in a product shot has to come right in passing in an event film.
