A food trailer for Ristorante Isoletta’s pinsa romana. The title sits over an alpine meadow in morning mist with mountains behind — pinsa, mozzarella and pasta as three word marks in the opening, before the film moves into the kitchen. Dough is a time-critical subject: there are only seconds between the oven and the camera in which the surface and the steam are right.
Three wordmarks in the opening are an instruction to the edit. Put pinsa, mozzarella and pasta side by side and you promise three chapters — and then you have to deliver them, each with its own handwriting and its own place.
An alpine meadow in morning mist in front of a food trailer is not a landscape shot but a claim about origin. It only works if somebody works with their hands afterwards; otherwise it stays decoration.
In the kitchen it is then a matter of seconds. Dough out of the oven changes its surface, its steam and its shine within half a minute — so the camera is standing before the peel moves, not once the plate is finished.
