A cover shoot for the artist Baba Ko for the release "Ganz gechillt". The set-up is minimal: a brick wall, a stool, green light from the left and blue from the right, and neon yellow trainers as the one accent that breaks out of the figure. The frame was conceived as a square with room for the title from the start — which is why the figure sits centrally and the lower half is deliberately kept quiet.
Two gels and a brick wall are the entire setup. Green from the left, blue from the right, and between them a surface that takes the two colors differently — brick is rough and shows every color as texture rather than as an area.
The neon-yellow shoe is where the picture works. In a frame made of two cold colors a warm patch is the place the eye goes first — and it sits low, so the look travels from there upwards into the face.
A square is also a specification and not a crop. Shooting for a cover means placing the figure centrally and leaving room at the top for the lettering; whatever happens at the sides will not be seen in a streaming app anyway.
