Urban, sexy and approachable. Not far from Hackescher Markt and within walking distance of Monbijou Park, the hotel has taken on the geographical heritage of what was formerly the summer palace at Monbijou.
The bar is done in petrol blue, photographically the most awkward color there is. Behind the U of blue velvet banquette stands a wall of backlit gold-leaf panels in black frames, a mirror at its center picking up the brass-branch chandelier and the bottle shelves of the room beyond. In front of it a coffee table on a brass frame with an embossed top, opal glass globes on the walls, dark herringbone parquet below.
Blue-green next to gold means there is no white balance that serves both. You decide for the gold and accept that the petrol goes colder — or the other way round.
