Business portraits of a managing director — the same person in four versions: against a window wall with soft greenery behind, on mid-gray studio paper, cut out on white, and against a whitewashed brick wall. A corporate portrait is used for years in different contexts — website, annual report, press list, speaking announcement — and each of them wants a different background. One sitting, four uses.
The frame in front of the window wall shows why that version is usually the first choice: the green outside is far enough out of focus to read as a surface, and the room still stays recognizable. A portrait against a real background places the person; one cut out against white does not.
Folded arms are a posture you rarely get on your own. It works because it narrows the upper body and gives the hands somewhere to be — what to do with the hands is the most common question in a business portrait, and it gets answered in front of the camera rather than after it.
The rest is reuse. Same person, same clothes, four backgrounds: so that two years from now a press date does not require a new session.
