Portrait photography is considered the highest discipline for photographers. No wonder — this is not just a question of camera ability, but the most important thing is to satisfy the model, move the model into the best position and then pull the trigger if necessary. When it comes to portrait photography, you not only want to take beautiful photos, you also want to make someone stand out in a very special light. Those who have a good command of portrait photography are not only in high demand among friends. He can portray characters in a way that almost no other person can describe and give the characters in the photos their own style.
The set itself is built from few, clear arrangements. The studio frame shows the model in black against red paper, a wide-brimmed hat, folded arms, a single hard light from the side — the shadow on the wall is as large as the figure and belongs to the idea.
Red as a background is a decision with consequences. It tints everything bright near it, it pulls attention in front of the face, and it only works with clothing that puts nothing up against it. Black and a hat are exactly that clothing.
The hard shadow is the counterpart to soft beauty light: one source, no fill, and direction does the rest. Under hard light a degree of head turn decides whether the nose casts a shadow or not.
