If you are a guest from a foreign culture and want to learn something about the art of hairdressing there, you not only have to be prepared to suffer when wishes go beyond cutting and shaving. It is also important to distinguish between cultural origins and Western influence. Yellow Barber invites you to perfect western standards with a touch of your own art.
The concept is a color. Against a wall of yellow and cream stripes, a woman lies sideways across a yellow armchair, head and hair hanging down, in a yellow dress, a yellow round brush in one hand and a chrome hairdryer in the other. Yellow flowers in a clay pot stand on the yellow side table, a comb and a plate in the same color beside them.
A monochrome set carries exactly one danger: when everything is the same color, the shapes dissolve into one another. What saves the picture is the two departures — the chrome of the dryer and the dark hair falling over the arm of the chair. Without them it would be a yellow surface with a face in it.
