A recruiting text can promise team spirit, modern workplaces and room to grow. Whether those claims read as credible is often decided by the pictures next to them.
Generic stock photos show friendly people in an office but answer no question about this particular company. Employer photography of your own can tie the rooms, the staff, the management and the way of working together.
More than a row of headshots
Portraits belong on a team page. Employer branding needs situations as well:
- working together and in meetings,
- concentrated individual work,
- production or contact with customers,
- break rooms and shared areas,
- training and passing on knowledge,
- managers in their actual surroundings,
- the details that make the workplace unmistakable.
Realistic, but not left to chance
Authentic pictures do not have to be made unnoticed on the side. Rooms, time slots and the people involved are prepared. What happens in front of the camera, though, should fit the company as it is.
People may be directed without being asked to play somebody else. That is exactly the difference between a professional production and an interchangeable symbolic picture.
One set of pictures for several recruiting channels
A careers page, a job advertisement, LinkedIn and a fair appearance all need different formats. Planning the subjects together produces material that belongs together and can still be used flexibly.
For more than twelve years I have photographed for companies in industry, hospitality, restaurants, retail and associations. The way of working, the color mood and the light are agreed before the shoot.
Portrait examples are under people.
