A corporate film can be led by one person, observe real situations, or work entirely through pictures, music and short captions. None of these forms is better in principle. What decides it is the job the film has to do.
When an interview makes sense
Interviews suit a film in which experience, attitude or explanation matter. A managing director can put a decision in context, an employee brings the professional view, and a client describes a collaboration in their own words.
To keep the result credible I work with topics and guiding questions rather than fully memorized text. The central statements are fixed; the language stays the speaker’s own.
When pictures alone are stronger
An event trailer or an atmospheric brand production does not always need a spoken interview. At the Frankfurter Grand Gala the place, the guests, the design and the movement carry the story. At the DIIR congress the effect of the event comes across through the stage, the full hall and the visible attention.
A purely visual film can be more compact and travels more easily across languages. In return it needs particularly clear frames and a precise edit.
The combination
Many corporate films combine a short interview with observed working situations. The voice provides the orientation; the pictures provide the evidence. Not every sentence then has to be explained with a caption.
Sound is part of the decision
My training at the SAE Institute covered sound engineering alongside design and editing. Sound, sound design, editing and color grading are done in house. That matters most with interviews, but it applies just as much to films in which atmosphere and music take the lead.
Before the production we settle the aim, the audience, the platform and who is available. The right structure follows from that.
