Photographically, an international event is many small assignments running at once. Stage, audience, details, conversations, group photos and short video sequences all have to happen inside a fixed schedule.
Three events, three centers of gravity
At the Honda European Skills Contest, cramped work stations and concentrated hands were what mattered. The Trainer Experience for La Biosthétique worked instead with intense stage light and a large audience. At company meetings such as Hörbiger, the handling of internal material had to be considered as well.
The most important preparation is not technical
The preparation that counts most is therefore not only about equipment. The schedule, the contacts, the access, the group line-ups and the formats wanted should be clear before the doors open. Some moments – an arrival, an award being handed over, the closing picture – cannot be repeated.
Looking spontaneous, being planned
Good event pictures look spontaneous. Behind them sits a precise plan that still leaves room to react to whatever was not on it.
What gets delivered is described under events.
