Asked questions about the wedding

Preliminary planning

What services are included? How much is their fee?

You can choose from several photography packages . These are typical and often requested offers. We would be happy to create a custom package for you that fits your vision and is perfect for your day.
No matter which one you choose, all my packages include the photography of the wedding day, a personal meeting to get to know each other, a check-up questionnaire, all regulated in the wedding contract. In addition, you will receive a password protected download link of your pictures and videos if applicable. This data will be backed up for at least 2 years.

How far in advance should I book them for my wedding?

As soon as you have your date! I usually schedule appointments at least a year in advance, but contact me for a date check even if you are planning your wedding in a shorter time frame.

Do you also travel for weddings? What are your rates for weddings outside of your area?

Of course! I am not only available for weddings in the Rhine-Main area, but also for weddings in Germany and abroad. There are additional travel and possibly accommodation costs.  See here: Travel expenses

My fiancé thinks he/she is not photogenic. The people in her photos look so natural and relaxed. How do they do it?

Believe it or not, more than half of my couples told me they weren't photogenic before getting in front of my camera. Many have this fear, but be amazed at how well it will work. As soon as you see their photos, you are sure to be amazed. I believe everyone is photogenic especially when standing next to the person they love.

Many people think they are "not photogenic", often because they saw embarrassing photos from school or bad snaps from family gatherings. When I photograph you, we create a relaxed and joyful atmosphere, looking for the best light, we use the best angles and - above all - I let the natural connection that you have as a couple shine through in every shot.

How many weddings do you photograph per year?

I don't have a set number of weddings that I shoot each year. I limit the number of appointments for weddings, because it is important to me to be able to plan enough time to get to know you as a couple and to be able to take enough time for the preparation and implementation.

I am interested in having them photograph my wedding. How do I secure my appointment?

All wedding dates are booked on a binding basis. In order to give personal attention to each of my clients, I only accept a limited number of weddings each year. The dates are secured as soon as we have signed the wedding contract and I have booked the deposit.

Can I see a complete wedding that they photographed (filmed)?

Definitely! I can happily show you a complete wedding. Email me via the contact page and I'll be happy to send you an example.

How and when will I receive the pictures from my wedding?

Your wedding pictures are usually available within 4-8 weeks after your wedding via a personal, password-protected link. Videos usually take a little longer. Pictures and videos are sent in the same way.

For wedding pictures, I can arrange a faster delivery for an increased processing fee of € 100.

For videos, a faster delivery depends on my workload because of the higher time effort, so it can only be agreed on short notice.

Do they take family photos during the wedding?

Yes, of course. I believe that it is important to take family photos. I recommend taking family photos either just before or just after your ceremony. The family photos are part of the wedding, there is no additional cost.

Do they photograph in black and white?

I generally shoot everything in color (images as well as videos). Images can be converted to black and white, which we can agree for individual images.

We are on the fence about doing an engagement shoot. What are the advantages?

For many couples, pre-wedding pictures together are often snapshots and selfies. These snapshots are also important as they capture a time and place in your relationship together. But professional engagement pictures are always a highlight for you and your family that you will surely enjoy looking at and showing many years from now. And if these pictures correspond in style and conveyed mood to the later wedding pictures, this rounds off your personal photo experience. In addition, it gives you the opportunity to gain experience to feel even more comfortable in front of the camera when your wedding is coming up.

What is your typical wedding day schedule?

The smooth flow of your special day is important. I create individual schedules for all my couples, in which we note, for example, when you would like to start with the hair and make-up, when it goes to the photo shoot and when you want to cut the cake (of course, everything in collaboration with your wedding planner and / or venue or caterer).

Can I provide them with a list of the shots I want to have taken?

I suggest that all couples create a list of family/group shots, as you know best which friends and family groupings you want in the pictures. Group photos with your immediate family (including grandparents) and any significant others aunts/uncles/cousins/friends are important to most couples. I recommend taking these photos just before or after the ceremony. Of course, if you want to capture any special traditions or unusual moments, let me know and put it on the list.

Of course, I can assist you with my experience and will also make sure to capture your day in my unique style.

What are they wearing to our wedding?

I dress formally, but comfortably, in dark clothes, or classically with a white shirt and black jacket, so I don't stand out in a wedding party.

My wedding venue requires my photographer to have liability insurance. Do they have that?

Of course. I can provide proof of insurance for your venue.

What equipment do you use? Do you have backup equipment?

I use professional still and film cameras and bring a spare camera of comparable quality to each wedding, as well as other extra equipment.

What if something happens to them and they can't photograph my wedding as planned? Do they have a plan in case of an emergency?

One of the added bonuses of working with professionals is that we can rely on each other in an emergency. I am connected with several professional agencies and have an extensive network of photographers and filmmakers that I can contact and who can usually fill in for me in case of an unforeseen emergency.

I really want them to stay until the end of my wedding. Will they?

Yes, of course! My packages include coverage of your day from the beginning of hair/makeup prep to the last big event of the celebration. Additional timed coverage is always available depending on how much more you want covered.

I have a lot of downtime between the event of my wedding. Will I be charged for this downtime?

We can discuss this in detail when we discuss the schedule for your wedding. Often it is exactly this "free" time between the fixed dates, in preparation for the next date. Usually, however, the time can be used wisely to take personal photos with you and your partner in peace or to put together for more family portraits. This often turns the dreaded time gap into an important focal point for the most atmospheric pictures.

You are the photographer for us? How do we book our wedding or registry office appointment?

Great! The next step is to fill out my contact form with your date, so I can check my availability. Once we have agreed on the ideal package for you, I will send you the wedding contract. The date is fixed from my side once the contract is signed and an advance is booked.

Get to know you policy

We would like to talk to them about our wedding. Where or how can we do that?

We could simply make an appointment to talk to you about your wedding plans. I conduct most meetings in person in the Rhine-Main area. Since I typically shoot weddings or corporate events on the weekends, meeting during the week is best for me. Many of my couples have busy schedules (or plan weddings remotely), so meetings can also be done over the phone or via Skype.

Do they travel to meet customers?

Due to my limited schedule, I rarely travel to meet with clients at this time. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please contact me.

We are very busy and will not be able to meet. Are there any other possibilities?

I would love to meet with you before the wedding; however, if you are too busy or too far away, we can do everything remotely. Just think about what you hope to get out of this meeting, and we can then discuss the best ways to accomplish your goal. As a suggestion, I am happy to show you a complete wedding online as an example. To help get to know each other in person, I prefer webcam appointments over Skype, for example, to phone calls.

Images

What if I lose my pictures / videos?

The pictures and videos will be stored by me for at least 2 years. You contact me and get the same day a link to their pictures or videos and can download them again.

Do they provide the raw files (RAW) of my wedding?

Each of my packages includes a maximum resolution image download. However, I don't usually offer RAW data from my shoots because I believe in delivering a finished product. In fact, I often shoot with the final product (post-processed) in mind. If you absolutely want all the images unedited, I will provide them unedited in JPEG format. If they need the RAW data because they want to do additional processing themselves or hire someone else to do it, I will provide it for an additional fee.

What rights do I have to the digital prints?

You have the right to reprint images for your own use whenever you want and wherever you want. However, you are not allowed to sell your pictures.

I am not satisfied with the color look and would like a price reduction.

A I can only reduce the price give if serious technical errors have occurred. However, I can retroactively adjust the images again.

I want all of my images to be consistently sharp throughout the frame.

I take a lot of pictures in an open aperture on which means that the background is a little blurry is, with that the desired motif moves more into the foreground. If you want the picture front to back spicy is, must let me know before the wedding. This is only conditional possible, so far I have suitable lighting conditions for this. When it goes towards evening twilight or we in one dark building photograph, is This cannot yet be implemented with the current technology on the market.

In a group picture there is someone who is not smiling, can this be changed afterwards?

With a group picture of over 20 people, it's almost for me impossible a picture to shoot where all people are met from their best side. It's partial possible that i in editing people retroactively smile naturally.

Some pictures have a slight yellow cast, why is that?

In rare cases it can happen that your wedding location is not designed for events and very yellow Ceiling lighting possesses with large open windows. This creates different ones lighting, which the camera can no longer be assigned. Technically, it's just through that flash possible, this one get a slight yellow tint. If you with your location are unsure, can please send me pictures in advance.

Can we get the pictures printed out?

You will receive all images exclusively in digital form as a download link.

Not all my pictures are as beautiful as on your website. Why is that?

On my website I only select my personal ones favorite pictures. There will definitely be a lot of pictures be that also potentially on my website can of their wedding. If you have pictures of her gallery particularly beautiful find offer I them a small selection, on which I'll adjust a bit.

Video

What does a highlight trailer mean?

A highlight trailer is a video that is between 6 and 8 minutes long. In this you can see all the special and important moments of your wedding. It does not contain any original sound, but is underlaid with different music titles, which you can choose yourself.

Can we include full length sound, speeches or dances in the video?

By default, I only create highlight trailers. In principle, however, it is possible to make additional video and sound recordings. However, these additional services must be explicitly recorded in the preliminary talk and contract, since a second camera may have to be set up with equipment for the sound. This can result in additional costs.

In hindsight this is no longer possible.

We would like to have a video of the entire wedding reception. Is this possible?

no I do not offer videos longer than a 6-8 minute highlight trailer. At some celebrations it is possible to extend the highlight trailer to up to 15 minutes.

Can we still exchange scenes in the video after acceptance?

Yes. It is possible to exchange scenes later, but only within the first 4 weeks after acceptance.

We would like to extend the video to over an hour, is this possible?

no I film with a focus on snapshots. As a result, I often change my position and film only short excerpts of one situation at a time.

Can we get all the raw footage of the wedding?

Basically yes.

However, things have to be considered here.

I film in a very high resolution, which is very performance-intensive and causes problems when playing on older computers.

There are many short excerpts which are recorded in slow motion.

I also film in a special video color profile, which makes the material appear very pale and colorless. This allows me to adjust the colors afterwards so that they look nice in the finished film.

Is it possible to integrate smartphone recordings of the guests into the video?

Basically yes. However, I would only do it in an emergency recommend there the quality of the recordings, the camera work and the format have a clearly visible break in style.

Do you film with a camera crane and several people?

no I only film alone with one gimbal. I don't use a camera crane. If they have a second cameraman wish, can I would be happy to make someone from my team available for them.

Are you installing external lighting in the wedding hall?

no I take photos and film with a very bright camera. That's enough ambient light off for almost all moments. In case it gets a little too dark should, use I use a flash or an LED light up, um very easy to lighten up.

We would like to have a continuous video of the entire church wedding, what are our options with you?

You have the possibility that I set up a second camera with an external microphone and let it run continuously. Please note she that I may be seen in the recordings am if an important moment arises for the highlight trailer.

Post production

Do you shoot in JPEG or RAW format?

I take all pictures in RAW format. The delivered images are in JPEG format.

Why is there an additional cost for custom retouching / compositions?

Advanced post-production includes retouching such as removing blemishes, removing bags under the eyes, removing protruding hair, etc. On the other hand, custom post-production is anything that requires extensive custom work in Photoshop, such as removing entire objects from the scene, changing the size and shape of body parts or other objects in the scene, adding objects to a scene, and other custom work. I charge for custom post-processing on an hourly basis, as the time required varies depending on the complexity of the project.

Have you post-processed all the images in our image download?

Yes, I do. Every image I deliver is post-processed using my style of basic post-processing. This includes color corrections, exposure adjustments, selective black and white editing, clarity adjustments, tone mapping and other corrections.

I want all my images to look exactly like an image on your site, is this possible?

No, every picture and every shoot is unique. This is coming brought about by the environment is different, photographed at a different time of day and different weather conditions to rule. If you like a style from my website like, can I like try me to be guided by this so that the images become similar.

Data backup

Do you back up our images? How can we ensure that our images are not lost?

I have never lost a picture from a wedding because I use the following backup workflow: During the event, I take pictures on 2 cards at the same time and then make a backup on an external hard drive. This leaves two copies on the cards and another is made on the external hard drive. After the shoot, I back up the cards to a local server set up in a RAID 1 configuration. Once the images are ready, I upload the photos to an external storage location. At least two copies of your files are available at all times.

tips

Guest placement in the location

Please make sure that your guests do not sit directly behind open large windows, as they can then easily be burned out in strong sunshine.

location lighting

Your locations should have high ceilings for more natural light. Ceiling lamps should not have too much yellow tint, as this will not look good in your pictures. This is more common in smaller restaurants than in professional wedding venues.

Wedding accessories

Soap bubble tubes are a perfect alternative to rice and confetti especially when breaking in. You can find these at Amazon (20 pieces) from 8 euros.

In heavily overcast weather, a matching umbrella is a great way to enhance the shoot. There are different models suitable for weddings such. B. in a heart shape, transparent, with writing and even the date with their initials. If you like it more classic, the umbrella in white and black also serves its purpose.

Wedding sneakers are a great idea for dancing late into the night, especially for the bride. These are optionally even available in a couple look with the bride and groom. Special sayings can also be written on the brine.

Emergency photo shoot plan in case of rain

It is important that we have an emergency location for the wedding shoot in case it rains. Please think about this in advance and contact me so that we can look for a location near the hall together.
