Driving-school cars are advertising on four wheels, and the fleet is the actual argument. So every vehicle gets the same perspective and the same standpoint, so the pictures work on the website as a row rather than a collection. Four cars, four times the same angle, the same distance, the same height — that is what turns four separate frames into a fleet.
The group picture follows the rule behind it. The four stand slightly staggered in a line, all fronts to the camera, and the gaps are chosen so that no vehicle cuts into another. With cars placed side by side the spacing decides whether it reads as a fleet or as a car park.
The standpoint in front of the cable-stayed bridge is not scenery hunting. A driving school advertises regionally, and the pylon is the landmark everyone in the area knows. In one frame it says where this school is based, and it replaces a location line that would otherwise have to sit beside the picture as text.
The hour does the rest. Car paint is a curved mirror and takes up whatever stands above it — at midday that is the white sheet of the sky and the photographer's own silhouette. In the hour before sunset the light is flat enough for the bodywork to gain form, and the sky supplies the cloud drawing that four dark blue cars in front of an empty surface badly need.
