A beach flag is both a gift and a nuisance in a frame. It names the host without a sign or a caption — but it rarely stands where you would want it, and in wind its mark is legible only half the time.
For an alumni evening this frame is still only the start. What is needed afterwards are greetings, groups in conversation and faces: the location provides the stage, but nobody comes for the staircase.
