A product set for the label Crew Love Clothing. Hoodies and shirts were photographed without a model, shaped and cut out — black on gray-green, cream on white, white on sage — each from the front with the chest print and from the back with the large rose motif.
For an online shop this is the harder discipline. With no body inside it, the garment has to show its fit through drape and shadow alone: the hood needs volume, the sleeves need a curve, the hem has to sit without collapsing. That is achieved with filling and pins from behind, and the real work on a day like this is not the photographing but the pinning.
Just as important is that every view sits in exactly the same place. Front and back of the same hoodie must have the same size, the same height and the same margin, or the garment jumps when a customer switches between views in the shop. So the camera and tripod stay put all day, and only what hangs in front of them is changed.
The background color changes per item, and that is a decision against white. A black hoodie on white is a silhouette with no seams; a white one disappears. A gray-green behind black and a sage behind white keep both edges visible — and the muted tones suit the brand without shouting over it.
The light is large and soft, with a remnant of edge from the side. Lit entirely without shadow, a garment looks as flat as a print; a single soft shadow under the sleeve is enough for a viewer to judge the fabric.
