A fashion set at two industrial locations: once on a heap of broken stone under a dramatic sky with a crane behind, once in front of a rusted site cabin on legs. The styling — bomber jacket, checked skirt, thigh-high boots — plays against the surroundings rather than with them. Locations like these give you texture and color for free, but they need a model who can move confidently on uneven ground.
The frame on the pile of stone lives on the sky. Above the crane sits a closed cloud cover with structure and the stone below it is warm — cold above, warm underneath. The surroundings deliver the color separation; it does not have to be built.
A location like this is still not a free ride. The ground is uneven and sharp-edged, the distances are short, and every pose has to work from a footing the model can actually hold. What looks casual is usually the most stable stance available.
And industrial sites have owners. Whether you may photograph there is settled before the date rather than in a conversation with site security.
