An event film for Denseo’s tenth anniversary. Shot in a historic hall of rough stone walls and timber posts: the speaker stands at the lectern, the guests in front of him at round tables under white covers, tall candelabra between them, warm uplight along the walls.
The camera stands behind the speaker. For a speech that is the frame that explains the evening — from the front you get a portrait, from behind you get who is being spoken to: occupied tables, faces turned forward, a full room.
The color is in the room, not in the picture. The masonry is lit orange, the tables sit in candlelight, and a white balance that pulls both back to neutral takes away exactly what the lighting was built for.
An anniversary film faces inward before it faces out. Whoever was there looks for themselves and their table; whoever was not sees how a company marks ten years. Both need frames in which people stay recognizable, not only atmosphere.
