Within a few kilometers, Frankfurt can deliver completely different pictures. On the Zeil, movement, passers-by and dense city space decide the frame. At the Westhafen, water and promenade open the perspective up. And in the Henninger Tower the city finally lies behind a curved window front as a panorama.
Three stops, three visual worlds
The Weidenhof and Zeil Kitchen show two sides of dining in the city center: a large outdoor terrace and traditional dishes on one, colorful vegan food photography on the other. At the Westhafen, the Druckwasserwerk and the Frankfurter Botschaft tie architecture, water and fine dining together. The Franziska adds the view from high above.
Why one visual language is not enough
To me this route is the reason Frankfurt is so varied to photograph. A single general visual language would not do the city justice. Every part of it asks for its own decision about light, perspective, people and space – and still stays unmistakably Frankfurt.
