Documenting a company anniversary: history, present and guests in one set

Published

A company anniversary is more than an event with a round number on it. It ties the history of a business to the employees, clients and partners who made that history possible.

For “100 years of Juwelier VOGL”, the documentation was therefore not limited to the official items on the schedule. The place, the brand, the guests, the details and the mood of the evening mattered just as much. Alongside the photography, a trailer summed the evening up in motion.

The layers an anniversary is made of

A complete production can bring these elements together:

  • historical documents, products or photographs,
  • the rooms and brand presence as they are today,
  • management and employees,
  • long-standing clients and partners,
  • speeches, awards and special moments in the schedule,
  • encounters away from the stage,
  • decoration, food and the visible anniversary elements.

Material for several points in time

Anniversary pictures are not only needed after the party. Portraits, products and historical subjects can be shot beforehand for the invitation, the press and the website. During the event, current pictures are needed for social media. Afterwards come the review, the annual report or the message to employees and partners.

Those phases belong in one shared shot plan.

Photography and trailer in one visual language

When stills and film are made side by side, both have to be ready for the same key moments. Speeches, handovers or surprises cannot be repeated. At the same time, cameras and lights must not take over the evening.

Photography and film come from one agreed visual language here. Editing, sound and color grading are done by me as well. The trailer then reads as the moving continuation of the picture set.

Start with the history early

The strongest anniversary productions happen when the archive and the event are planned together. Which milestones should be visible? Which people belong to the story? Are there products, places or documents that only come together on this one day?

Those questions belong in the first conversation. Scope, services and price are then set out in the quote before the date becomes binding.

The projects 100 years of Juwelier VOGL and the category event trailer show what that looks like.
