Series Five sequences, few words
Some of these pictures belong to no commission; others were made on one and stayed with me long after. Here they are not references but sequences: large images, one short thought for each series, and nothing else. Take your time.

01 / 05
Candlelight
Offenbach am Main
Statement
On a stage full of candles, it is the flames that set the light, not the photographer. What draws me is the narrow warm band in which a movement becomes visible for a moment, and the dark that swallows everything else. Watch the feet: that is where the whole tension of the evening lies.

02 / 05
Masks
Statement
A mask hides nothing; it only shifts where you look. In this series I am interested in the border between face and figure: paint on skin, a beak, a gas mask, slime. I keep the dark deep enough that you have to decide for yourself where the person behind it begins.

03 / 05
Evening water
Statement
When the sun hangs low over the trees, the water becomes a second sky. I photograph against that light rather than with it, and accept that outlines burn away. What remains is less a portrait than a state: wet, warm and entirely still.

04 / 05
Nocturnes
Statement
At night the city belongs to light nobody put up for a photograph: glowing walls, bridge arches, an empty passage with a single lamp. I look for the places that are full of people by day and show them when only their architecture is speaking.

05 / 05
From above
Statement
From above, a landscape loses its names and turns into drawing: a path as a stroke through the forest, walls as a star, a river as a line of light. I am drawn to the first and last hours of the day, when shadows are long enough to tell shapes apart.

A selection of these photographs is available as fine art prints. If a series stays with you, write to me.
