PA Sports, born Parham Vakili, is a German rapper and songwriter known in the German hip-hop scene for his exceptional rap skills and his thoughtful lyrics. Born on 1 April 1990 in Essen, he has made a name for himself as a versatile artist. PA Sports' music is shaped by personal experience and social themes. With hits such as “Keiner Kriegt Mich” and “Verloren im Paradies” he has won a loyal following.

His charismatic stage presence and his commitment to authentic rap have made him an important figure in the German hip-hop scene. Through his music he reaches his listeners and remains a significant artist in the German music landscape.

A club show is the opposite of an arena tour, and that changes everything about how you work. The stage is barely raised, there is no pit between the artist and the front row, and the ceiling hangs low enough that the LED strips are in the frame. So the photography happens from inside the crowd and slightly from below — there is nowhere else to stand.

That is precisely what separates these frames from concert pictures made in a hall. In front of the artist there are no barriers but raised hands and phones, and the faces of the front row are close enough to run soft through the foreground. In this format that is not a fault: closeness is the reason somebody books a club show rather than an arena.

Haze and backlight do the work a lighting rig does in a hall. The lamp from behind left draws the outline of the white sweatshirt, the haze makes the beams visible, and a dark ceiling becomes depth. Without haze it would be people in front of black.

White clothing under stage light is the technical trap of the evening. It is several stops brighter than any face beside it, and once the sweatshirt blows, the whole body outline goes with it. So the exposure goes on the fabric and the face is lifted afterwards.

And here too there is no flash. In a club you stand two meters from the audience — a flash turns every spectator within reach into a participant.
